vShare works on Linux servers if you have all requirements installed.
Its better to get latest Linux OS as old Linux are not supported well. Most software's are developed for latest OS and will not provide support for old OS.

Many other Linux OS are supported, but these distro's are more popular. So it will be easy to find support for these OS.
